**Akbar in Solar Reverence**
*1605 CE*
This Mughal painting captures Emperor Akbar in a moment of prayer to the Sun. It is housed at the Indian Museum in Kolkata and is believed to have been created around 1580, during a period when Akbar engaged with Jesuit priests and had his artists emulate Bible illustrations.
The painting's Persian inscription reads, "The king faces the sun's radiance. No luminary matches the sun's brilliance."
